Course Description

This course is all about managing children's behaviors through the context of warm, responsive relationships.

Throughout this course, you will:

  • Take a deeper dive into the Subskill: Managing Behaviors.
  • Explore the connection between relationship-building and managing behaviors.
  • Consider how our lens may affect the way we view and support behaviors.
  • Explore Intentional Teaching Practices (ITPs) we can use to support children's behaviors.

Learn how to manage children’s behaviors using different ITPs and see what they look like in action! Each ITP is designed to support positive behaviors, build strong relationships, and help children see you as a resource they can count on. Along the way, we’ll offer tips and ideas for managing behaviors in your learning space.

This course includes seven learning modules:

  • Managing Behaviors Through Relationships
  • Acknowledge Positive Behaviors/Effort
  • Promote Autonomy (Choice)
  • Use Cues and Visuals
  • Give Effective Command
  • Engaging Children in Alternate, Appropriate Behaviors
  • Linking Behaviors and Outcomes

 Each module

  • Explores a strategy using lessons, activities, and short quizzes.
  • Takes about 20 minutes to complete.
  • Tracks your progress, so you can pick back up where you left off.

Once you complete all of the modules, you will receive a certificate of completion.
